Undecided Youth, in addition to other great local acts, are performing at the Talent Show for Katrina victims this Friday at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at the Veterans Middle School. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults. All proceeds are going to the relief fund.
Embedded in this news article about the event, music teacher Bob Tirelli says:
It will just be a really fun event with such a variety of different talents. We have this one group of kids who have formed a rock band that has incredible talent for kids of this age.
This is Undecided Youth's first press mention from an outside source!
We hope to see you there, and we hope everyone yells loudly at the end of their first song, Should I Stay or Should I Go, by the Clash.
If the volume is loud enough for an encore, they will sing one of their own songs: She's No Cinderella -- melody and words composed by Jessica, drumline composed by Cam, and guitar solo composed by Greg.
We are desperately trying to get a good mp3 of She's No Cinderella up onto the site. If anyone knows of a good, cheap recording studio with a first rate sound engineer, we'd love to know about it!

We just realized that we have no way of letting everyone know when Undecided Youth performs! So, to rectify that error, we have added the Undecided Youth Mailing List where we will send out an email to let you know our next performance dates as they approach and other great things, like new mp3s on the site! Sign up to be notified!
Oh, and by the way, we never share subscriber information, we promptly remove you when asked, and you get an email with perforance dates and new mp3 information.
So try it out! There is no risk!
Just click on the link below, an email message should come up, and just hit send. (No need to input additional text, but if you have something to say, Undecided Youth would love to read it!) This helps us ensure that the email gets to you because Undecided Youth's email address is then in your address book and shouldn't be automatically screened as spam.
And for those of you who like to know you can be removed from the list, just click on the link below to be removed. (The remove link is also embedded in every email Undecided Youth sends out so you don't have to go hunting for an address to be removed.)
Remove My Email From the Undecided Youth Mailing List
We hope to see you at one of our gigs!

OK, the Talent Show was a success, and we have a killer live recording of She's No Cinderella.
Now, the only thing you can't do is to sell this thing for money. You can give it away to your friends, but we retain copyright. If you are making a slide show for your personal use with pictures and to give away to friends, put this music in! If you are a state or federally recognized nonprofit or a school and would like to put this on a CD to raise money, please email us.
We have taken down the garage studio version because this one is so much better!
(For best results with Windows, right click the link and choose "save target as", save the file on your computer, and play it or rip it from there.)

Update:
Had some requests for the lyrics to the song, and here they are!
She's No Cinderella from Undecided Youth
Verse 1
In the middle of the night she comes calling,
She wants to be free, but she can never be again.
Hear her, she’s calling,
Telling us to let her be…
Chorus
She’s no Cinderella,
She’s no Sleeping Beauty,
She’s a selfish woman,
Begging to be free,
Just let her be…
Verse 2
She’s in a nightmare,
Finally realizing the trouble she’s got into,
Hear her, her footsteps on the stairs,
She’s waiting…
Chorus (1x)
Just let her be -- yeah
(Guitar solo)
Chorus (2x)

Undecided Youth wins the YMCA Battle of the Bands! According to the judges, it was close, but Undecided Youth won:
Undecided Youth had some injuries going in, but were able to overcome them.
Jess had a fever starting Tuesday night, and it didn't really break until Friday morning. We thought it broke Thursday, but it appeared again late Thursday night. Doctor said it was a virus. Nothing he could do. Her singing teacher, Barbara Evans, worked with her on Saturday morning to help clear her out, and it worked! She was able to hit every note.
Greg was walking around all day Saturday with a warm compress on his neck. He said his neck hurt because he slept wrong. The Roadies think his neck hurt because his head was banging so hard practicing the guitar Friday night that something finally snapped. He was able to go with the flow of the music on Saturday, moving his neck and jumping, despite any pain.
Cam and Katie were healthy going into it, thank goodness. Cam pulled off his famous showmanship moves with no problem whatsoever, and Katie kept the steady beat with the bass. It all worked.
Undecided Youth wants to thank the Y for hosting it, but most especially they want to thank all the kids who showed up! If you attended and see any member of Undecided Youth in the hallway, please stop and tell them you were there. They will be sure to thank you personally.
We have so many things coming up, and some of them are not quite finalized yet, but please watch this space and sign up for the Undecided Youth newsletter! It will tell you when something really big is happening!

This past Saturday brought an experience that the band didn’t expect to occur this early in their career. High Speed Productions in conjunction with What’s Up TV (www.whutsuptv.com) visited Undecided Youth’s studio to begin filming a one-hour television production about the band. The kids underwent over five hours of interviewing, performing bits of songs, and other television production tasks.
Executive Producer Kadja S. Braga and her film crew, Dario L Finkel and Frank H Benesh, were extremely impressed with the kid’s professionalism. The production team will be following the band into Boston this weekend to film footage of this live performance for the show. They "discovered" Undecided Youth by putting together the Talent Show.
Look for the show to air as What’s Up TV on Marblehead cable MHTV probably sometime in February or March.
Here is a photo of the kids being interviewed by Kadja. All are looking at the camera. (Click to enlarge)

OK, folks, Undecided Youth is psyched at the mention in the Boston Phoenix! Check out the January 27 issue for the complete article by Camille Dodero entitled ID Check: Alex Brown-Whalen. While Undecided Youth is not the topic of this article, they hope to be the topic of a future article!
P.S. The band has changed their favorite colors. They all just like black now -- more mature.

The Boston gig with Devil Music was a great success! The lineup was very eclectic and the audience appreciative of such a diverse ensemble. Playing with older and talented musicians with years of experience helped Undecided Youth stay "on" and raised their bar to a new level. Here is a hearty thanks to Devil Music, Abraham Lincoln Brigade, and the Conversions!
The audience ranged from 5-year olds to 75-year olds, with the bulk being artsy college students. This truly was an "all-ages" gig.
The film crew was there with four cameras and a mixing board. We're excited to see what comes out! (And did they work hard!)
And here is their first Boston promotional flyer!

Hey, this is a cool place! We had a lot of fun going there.... they have a great alcove for the bands with a killer PA. We just brought in our guitar amps and drums (love our own stuff) and set up and played! Acoustics. Like we said -- Awesome. Sometimes you play in large halls/gyms and the sound just bounces all over the place. Not here.
Lots of people there. We played a varied set, a few covers, three of our originals, and an improv. We heard lots of clapping and cheers and saw some dancing. If you were there, please send us an email! We would love to thank you!
We played with a new band, The Outriders, and a great well-known band, The Mystery Tramps. The Mystery Tramps have played on tour, in Newbury Comics, etc., and have even had a single played on the radio. They were great to us. And by the way, they are playing at the Middle East on Sunday, February 26, at 1 p.m. We are going to try and catch their act. We also heard soloist Haley Lawry. Someone said she was 12, we don't believe it! She had to be at least 15. Great voice.
As for Boston Street, they even have great food! One of the eight of us ordered a Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad, and the thing could have fed all eight of us! The appetizer platters are huge too... loved the potato skins! They have one drink made with Captin Crunch Cereal that we couldn't try for obvious reasons... you'll just have to go to get more info on that thing!
We hope to play there again another vacation week -- it was just plain fun!
Hey, got a funny story to tell. We have never played in Lynn/Saugus before so we had Greg's little 6-year old brother, Griffin, pass out some of our Undecided Youth picks at the show. At first it was just fine, but then someone must have thought he was cute so they started paying him for the picks! We don't know if 10 people just decided to pay him for the picks or he started charging for them because he walked out of the place $10 bucks richer! (OK, we'll admit he's cute, but $10 bucks for cuteness?)
Here are some pics (didn't get any stellar ones but...)

This is going under "press" because it was shot by band photographer Amanda at the Marblehead Veterans Middle School... (Thanks, Amanda!) The kids there were first rate and Undecided Youth appreciated the support. And thanks so much to the teachers who showed up too!
Some pics are stored on this page, but you can see still more by going to the link below. (Click to make them larger.)
